Our main act of worship is our Parish Mass, a service of Holy Communion, at 10.30 am every Sunday. Our service includes hymns, readings from the Bible, a sermon, and prayers, as well as Holy Communion. On special 'festival' days, we might use incense at this service. Our singing is led by our enthusiastic choir, usually accompanied by our pipe organ. The service lasts for around 70-75 minutes, and is followed by refreshments in the St John's Church Centre. Children and young people are invited to join our 'Children's Worship', which leaves the service after the opening prayers and returns before Holy Communion, led by our experienced children's ministry team in the St John's Church Centre. Our 'Praise Together Parish Mass' takes place on the last Sunday of every month, when our children and young people are encouraged to join in with leading prayers, singing, and serving at the main church service.
On Wednesdays (at 10.00 am) and Fridays (at 1.00 pm), we celebrate Holy Communion at quiet, more reflective services in our Lady Chapel, which sometimes include a short reflection on the day's Bible readings.
Morning Prayer is offered on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 9.00 am. This short service (around 20 minutes), taken from 'Common Worship: Daily Prayer', includes Bible readings and prayers, and is a good way to start the day gently in God's presence.
