Welcome from our Vicar, Father Barrie

Welcome to St John's website.  I am thrilled and honoured to be the 19th vicar of this great parish and church - a friendly, welcoming group of people, dedicated to spreading God's love through the Sacraments, community work and fellowship.  Since 1833 the Parish Church has been a place where God is encountered in the beauty of holiness and in the sacramental and prayerful lives of those responding to God's call.

We have a wide range of activities, ranging from worship, Bible study and prayer groups,  to social occasions, charity work and fundraising.  Whether you are looking to explore your faith or get involved in helping others, you will find a warm welcome here at St John's.  Everybody who comes here says "St John's is like a family".

As a priest, and your vicar, it is my calling to administer the sacraments, preach and teach the word of God and to visit and support all those who need it.  We can arrange Holy Communion at home as well as help with planning baptisms/christenings, weddings and funerals.  We also have a bereavement friendship group and a thriving "Stay and Play" group called "The Jesse Tree" and a Youth Club which meets most Thursdays.  Just check our calendar and other pages on the website for more details, or fill in our Contact enquiry form.

Come and find out more about us, about God and Faith, and be reminded that God loves you.  We look forward to meeting you.

Every blessing

Father Barrie - Vicar of St John the Evangelist, Perry Barr
